Captain Massey began his law enforcement career with the Puyallup Police Department in 2006. He has served in a variety of assignments throughout his career, to include Patrol Officer, Tactical Team Leader, Bicycle Patrol Officer, a Problem Oriented Policing Unit officer, a member of the Pierce County regional gang taskforce, Police Training Officer, UAS pilot, and Special Investigations Detective.
Captain Massey was promoted to the rank of sergeant in 2019. As a sergeant, he served as a Patrol Sergeant and as the Crime Suppression Unit Sergeant in the Criminal Investigations Division. Captain Massey held the rank of sergeant until his promotion to captain in 2022.
Captain Massey is currently assigned to lead the Operations Division. He is the Metro Tactical Response Team commander and is very involved with the City’s Emergency Management Team and Emergency Operations Center assisting with exercise design, development, and evaluation.
Captain Massey was born in Arizona and joined the Army from high school. He retired from the Army with 22 years of service, most of which was in the special operations community.
When not at work, Captain Massey enjoys spending time with his wife and family. He enjoys disc golf, traveling, and being outdoors in the great northwest.
