Puyallup's Downtown Economic Development Plan & Safe Routes to School Plan will be shared at the American Planning Association’s Washington Annual Conference in Tacoma on October 16th.
At the conference, a panel that will include Puyallup Senior Planner Katie Baker will explore how to develop Safe Routes to Schools Plans based on the particular characteristics of the population being served. The session will address how racial and economic disparities affect transportation needs and thus must be considered in developing solutions to those needs.
Also on October 16th, Puyallup Development Services Director Tom Utterback will participate in a panel to showcase the City’s recently-adopted Downtown Economic Development Plan. The City’s partner on this project, Berk Consulting, helped facilitate community buy-in on a plan that incorporates policy changes and encourages strategic investments to spur growth and achieve desired development.
