[ARCHIVED] Masks Required in All City of Puyallup Facilities

Puyallup, WA – The City of Puyallup, in compliance with the new directive from Tacoma Pierce County Health Department (TPCHD) and the State of Washington, is requiring everyone 5 years and older to wear a face mask while inside City facilities. This requirement is effective starting on Thursday, August 19, 2021.

The directive, which was first issued by TPCHD Director of Health Dr. Anthony Chen, applies to all government buildings within Pierce County. To mitigate the potential spread of the highly contagious Delta variant, visitors to the following City facilities must wear a face mask.

  • City Hall
  • Puyallup Public Library
  • Puyallup Police Department
  • Puyallup Municipal Court
  • Puyallup Recreation Center
  • Pioneer Park Pavilion
  • Puyallup Memorial Center
  • Puyallup Senior Activity Center
  • Public Works Corporate Yard

All visitors to these indoor public facilities, regardless of vaccination status, will be required to wear a mask or face covering until further notice. The mask directive will remain in effect until further guidance is obtained by Pierce County or the State of Washington.

With the concerning increase in cases and hospitalizations due to COVID-19, the City strongly encourages residents to protect themselves by getting vaccinated. To find a vaccine appointment near you, please go to the Vaccinate WA website here. Additionally, you can help mitigate the spread of COVID-19 by following these simple steps:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and warm water.
  • Cover your cough and sneezes with a tissue or your elbow.
  • Avoid touching your face and eyes.
  • If you are sick, stay home and rest.
  • Maintain at least six feet distance from people while indoors.
