[ARCHIVED] Loss of Tacoma Police Officer

The City of Puyallup is deeply saddened by yesterday’s death of a Tacoma police officer, and express our most sincere condolences to his family, loved ones and fellow officers.

The officer was killed in the line of duty as he responded to a call for help. His actions were an attempt to protect others from harm; in trying to secure their safety and well-being, he willingly risked--and ultimately lost--his own life.

Yesterday, this officer served and protected. Ultimately, he paid the highest price possible for offering his service and protection.

The City of Puyallup grieves in solidarity with the City of Tacoma, its Police Department, and all in the community who suffer heavy hearts today as a result of this tremendous and incomprehensible loss.
