District 1 - Robin Farris

Robin Farris was first elected to the City Council in 2015 and re-elected in 2019. Her second term runs from 2020 to 2023.

Personal Information
Family & Early Development. 

Robin’s family has lived in Puyallup for over 100 years. She attended Waller Road, Aylen Junior High and Puyallup High School (Class of 1979). Shortly after high school, Robin enlisted in the United States Navy as an electronics technician. As a Chief Petty Officer she was commissioned as a limited duty officer, eventually advancing to lieutenant commander.

Military Service. 

As a naval officer, Robin was stationed in Yokosuka, Japan on the USS Blue Ridge LCC-19, where she was the first woman to serve on ships' company. She was subsequently stationed at San Diego, Iceland and the United Kingdom. After proudly serving 23 years of service, Robin retired and returned home to spend time with her extended family in Puyallup.

Experience. 

Since retirement in 2004, she worked as a learning and development specialist at a large insurance firm and as a business manager in a small local business. She also initiated the recall against former Assessor-Treasurer Dale Washam.

Higher Education. 

Robin holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science (cum laude) from Chapman University, a Master of Business Communications in Leadership and Influence (magna cum laude), and a Master of Business Administration from Western Governors University.
