About Puyallup Police Explorer Post #530

The Puyallup Police Department Explorer Post #530 is a volunteer organization under Learning for Life’s Law Enforcement Exploring program. Law Enforcement Exploring is open to young men and women ages 14 to 20 years old with an interest in learning more and developing a career in Law Enforcement. The Explorer program trains young adults on the missions, objectives, responsibilities, real-life situations and everyday lives of law enforcement professionals. The program provides insight into law enforcement careers, leadership opportunities, pre-law enforcement training and tactics, and community service activities and events.

Active Shooter

Our goal is “To Identify and train prospective law enforcement officers of the future while providing for the City of Puyallup and its citizens, a public service organization". Other primary goals of the program are to help young adults choose a career path within law enforcement. And to challenge them to become responsible, professional, and ethical adults that will continue to implement these qualities every day in their personal lives and career.

Puyallup Police Explorers participate in several community events such as Meeker Days, the Daffodil Parade, the Puyallup Fair, Black Friday events, Rhubarb Days, and many more. All Explorers have the ability to be bike certified.  Explorers who are 18 years old and older and who possess a good driving record may drive the explorer vehicle. These opportunities provide insight to what law enforcement professionals experience daily while providing service in and around the community. Explorers also ride along with Puyallup Police officers on a regular basis to gain on-the-job experience.

In the first six months in the program, each explorer attends the Washington Law Enforcement Exploring Advisor’s Academy where Explorers are able to obtain hands-on training by law enforcement professionals from all around Washington State. The Puyallup Police Explorers also participate in local and national competitions. The Puyallup Explorer Post is led by an Explorer Captain, which reports to an overseeing Puyallup Police Sergeant and several Police Officers/Advisors.
