FAQ
What is the Comprehensive Plan?
Puyallup’s Comprehensive Plan is a long-term plan that helps the City prepare for and manage expected population and employment growth, as well as coordinate major public investments. It also provides direction for City decision making on land use, transportation, parks, sewer and water systems, natural resources and other areas. It is framed in broad terms and guides future implementation, such as parcel-specific zoning or infrastructure design.
What is the Periodic Update?
The Washington State Growth Management Act requires review every 10 years to address changes in state law, integrate updates to regional planning documents, and update/extend the range of required growth targets (i.e. population, housing, employment). The City's last major update occurred in 2015 and portions of the Comp Plan have been updated on an annual basis since that time. Puyallup is now undergoing another major update to the entire Comprehensive Plan.
How do I get involved?
The update will include many opportunities for public input and multiple work sessions with the city's Planning Commission who make recommendation to City Council. The city will publicize open house events on this webpage.
