Summary:
The City of Puyallup is looking to replace the aging, undersized, fish blocking, and failing culvert beneath 11th St SW at Meeker Creek (1000 Block of 11th St SW). The culvert will be replaced with a new, fish-friendly concrete box culvert.
Other activities include roadway improvements, utility relocations, and safety improvements.
Project Schedule:
Updated 7/14/23. Marshbank Construction, Inc. will be starting construction on Monday July 17th, 2023. Construction crews will be closing 11th St SW at the culvert and will only allow local traffic access on 11th St SW between 9th Ave SW and 12th Ave SW. The Puyallup Loop Trail will be detoured around the project site. Please see the traffic control plan below (this is subject to change, as conditions change). Construction will continue through August and will taper off through September.
Updated 4/25/23. The City has contracted with Marshbank Construction, Inc. to construct the project. The City is currently working with Marshbank Construction on the necessary pre-construction documentation. Construction is anticipated to begin in mid-June and continue through September. During this time, please expect 11th St SW (near the 1000 block) to be closed to thru traffic. There are a few adequate detour routes around the work site. Access for local residents will be maintained as much as possible.
Updated 2/2/2023. The design is complete and the project is currently advertised for bidding. The bid opening is scheduled for 2/14/2023. Construction is anticipated to begin in early-Summer 2023, with the bulk of construction occurring during the WDFW HPA permitting window of July 16 - August 31st. Construction is anticipated to be complete around September 2023.
Construction Impacts:
11th St SW will be closed during construction, at the 1000 block. 11th St SW is a minor, low-volume, residential roadway, so no formal detour routes will be established. However, access for all residences will remain, as much as possible. The contractor and/or City will coordinate with property owners if conflicts arise. The Puyallup Loop trail will also be closed and the route will be detoured around the work area.
