Citizens’ Academy is a program designed to provide interested citizens, who either reside or work in the City of Puyallup, an opportunity to learn firsthand about the Puyallup Police Department. The purpose of the Citizens’ Academy is to increase the understanding between the department and the citizens of Puyallup through education to familiarize them with the various facets of the Puyallup Police Department and its role in the Criminal Justice system. Citizens will learn through a variety of classroom presentations as well as experience an opportunity to ‘ride along’ with an officer during their patrol, have several field trips to the firing range, 9-1-1 center, Courts and visit the City jail.

We are now accepting applications for the Spring 2015 Citizens Academy which will be held on Wednesday evenings from March 11 - May 27, 2015 (and two special Saturday sessions). Both the Citizens Academy Application and Ride Along Application must be submitted to be considered for participation in the Citizens Academy. A copy of your driver's license is required. Applicants are subject to a background check.
NOTE: This is NOT a Training Academy for police officers, although some graduates have gone on to a career in Law Enforcement. Those interested in becoming an officer, should contact the City of Puyallup Human Resources Department
