The Puyallup Police Department currently reviews and monitors calls for service and criminal activities on a daily basis. When the department detects a trend or pattern, strategies and internal adjustments are made to respond to the particular problem.
In the event of a crime trend—a series of car prowls at a shopping center, a rash of home burglaries in a neighborhood, a pattern of scams that target local businesses—the police department utilize this email distribution list to alert citizens, businesses and organizations. Crime Alerts include specific information related to the problem and the location.
The Crime Alert typically consists of the following information: specific crime/events/suspicious activity in the community; any suspect descriptors available, crime prevention tips, and a request from the police department for assistance. Crime alerts are only be sent to those identified as a stakeholder, based on the location or the type of crime that is occurring.
