Puyallup Historic Resources Survey
The City recently completed Phase II of its Historic Resources Survey. This survey was conducted in the largely residential area of northwest Puyallup. City staff and the City's consultant will hold a Community Meeting at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 14, 2010, at the Puyallup Library (324 S. Meridian) to present the findings of that survey. Information on preserving, rehabilitating, and celebrating historic structures in Puyallup will also be available.
The area suveyed, and the specific addresses inventoried are shown on the attached map. Buildings in Puyallup that were constructed more than 50 years ago are shown on this map.
In 2007, the City conducted a survey of historic buildings in downtown Puyallup. The project evaluated buildings in the city's core and identified those of historical significance. The survey serves as a resource for community efforts to preserve and rehabilitate historic buildings in the downtown area. The project was funded through a grant from the Washington State Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation.
The report provided survey records for 95 properties in the downtown area. Addresses for the 52 commercial properties, 15 institutional properties, and 28 residential properties evaluated in the survey area are listed below. Records for the individual properties are available in the Planning Division (1100 39th Avenue SE) and in the reference collection, history room at the Puyallup Library (324 S. Meridian).
Questions about the historic survey may be directed to Katie Baker, Long Range Planning, at 253/435-3604 or kbaker@ci.puyallup.wa.us.
