Saturday Film Program

Going to the movies doesn't have to cost you an arm and a leg. Join us for our Saturday Film Program, running from February - April 2013. You can enjoy a variety of movies, covering different genres, decades, and audiences, all on the semi-big screen!
Movies generally start at 2:00 PM on Saturdays in the South Meeting Room.
Don't forget that you can browse the Library Online Catalog for videos and DVDs to check out and watch at home.

In a not-too-distant future, North America has collapsed, weakened by drought, fire, famine, and war to be replaced by Panem, a country divided into the Capitol and 12 districts. Each year two young representatives from each district are selected by lottery to participate in The Hunger Games. Part entertainment, part brutal intimidation of the subjugated districts, the televised games are broadcast throughout Panem. The 24 participants are forced to eliminate their competitors, literally, with all citizens required to watch. When 16-year-old Katniss' young sister, Prim, is selected as the mining district's female representative, Katniss volunteers to take her place. She and her male counterpart, Peeta, will be pitted against bigger, stronger representatives who have trained for this their whole lives.

General Jack D. Ripper (Sterling Hayden) plummets into madness and sends a bomber wing to destroy the U.S.S.R.  He suspects that communists are trying to rob Americans of their precious body fluids.  The U.S. president meets with his advisors, where the Soviet ambassador tells him that if the U.S.S.R. is hit by nuclear weapons, it will trigger a "Doomsday Device" which will destroy the U.S. with buried bombs.
