Tacoma Area Obituaries

Contains more than 355,000 individual indexed records of obituaries published in the Tacoma News Tribune / Morning News Tribune from 1984 to the present, in addition to a selection published from 1930 to 1983.  Copies of obituaries are available for a fee via the website or at the Tacoma Public Library, downtown Main Library.

Washington State Archives: Puget Sound Regional Branch

Local and state government records cover information from county offices such as the Auditor, the Clerk, the Treasurer, the Board of Commissioners, and from municipalities, school districts, and other state service districts.


Heritage Quest (this database is only available outside of the library with a barcode number from a physical library card)
U.S. Federal Census from 1790-1930 and over 25,000 books on family and local histories are available.  Recommended Software: Adobe Acrobat ReaderTM.  In order to download images of documents in PDF format, you will need to have installed the Adobe Acrobat ReaderTM plugin.  If your browser does not already have the Reader installed, you can download it free of charge from the Adobe site: http://www.adobe.com/main.html
