Welcome to Puyallup Public Library's 2014 Summer Reading Program!
The Puyallup Public Library is pleased to offer Summer Reading Programs for children, teens, and adults. This year, we will host a variety of free events that encourage all ages to read and explore their library. We'll have author visits, gaming days, knights, forensic technicians, and films, just to name a few of the fun things you can do at the Library. Summer Reading runs from June 16th – August 16th, with registration beginning on June 2nd.
We are excited to announce that our Summer Reading Program is moving online this year! Now kids, teens, and adults can all register to participate through the Library’s Summer Reader page. Using Evanced Summer Reader software, you can quickly register your family and keep track of what you read. We’ll even alert you when you’re eligible for prizes! Prizes will be available starting June 16th.
You can even access the Summer Reader software through your mobile device, via the Library’s webpage. If you need assistance, library staff will be available to help you with signing up for Summer Reading at either the Children’s or Reference Desks.
Keeping track of reading is simple with our online Reading Logs. Kids and teens will log how much time they read this summer, while adults can track the number of books they read. You can write and share reviews of what you’re reading, as well as comment on other reviews.
Fizz, Boom, Read!
This program is open to children, from infants to grade 6. Designed to keep young people reading during the long hot days of summer, we offer fun incentives to help children maintain their reading skills. All children who spend time reading, listening to audiobooks, or being read to, can enter drawings for great prizes. Plus, every child who reads (or is read to) at least 15 hours this summer will get a free book and a ticket to Northwest Trek / Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium, as well as free goodies from local retailers. Early bird finishers will earn a ticket to a Tacoma Rainiers game for Puyallup Public Library Night on August 20th!
Spark a Reaction
This program is designed just for teens (ages 12 - 19)! Register with our Summer Reader program and keep track of the hours that you read. For every hour spent reading, you earn Prize Drawing tickets that can be used to enter weekly drawings at the Library, starting June 16th. When you read 15 hours, you'll earn a ticket to a Tacoma Rainiers game for Puyallup Public Library Night on August 20th. Read 20 hours and receive a free book. Teens who read 30+ hours become eligible to spend a night in the library! And, of course, there are tons of great programs happening throughout the summer.
Our adult summer reading program rewards you for each book you read this summer. We'll be hosting author visits, book discussion groups, and entertaining programs covering a variety of topics!
All of our summer programs are generously sponsored by the Friends of the Puyallup Public Library, as well as Auntie Anne's Pretzels, McDonald's Restaurants, Jersey Mike's Subs, Northwest Trek & Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium, and the Tacoma Rainiers.
