Make your own pentominoes (special shapes that fit together in different ways) and challenge your brain to invent a secret code of your own. Then, see if you can fit the pieces together– it’s harder than it looks!
Part of the “Read Outside the Lines” series of programs for 4th, 5th, and 6th graders revolving around great children’s literature. Each program will include poems, a selection from the book Chasing Vermeer by Blue Balliett, and fun related activities. Note: it is not required to read Chasing Vermeer in order to enjoy these activities--but we do hope it will encourage everyone to check out the book, and other similarly great books. As an added bonus, those who attend 3 or more programs will get a FREE copy of the book. No registration required.
