From Golden Age to a Galaxy Far Away: A Star Wars Reads Day Event

Oct 12, 2013 1:00 pm-2:00 pm

Puyallup Public Library
324 S Meridian
Puyallup, WA 98371

You knew that Star Wars happened "a long time ago", but did you know that much of this classic film was influenced by the 1930s and '40s? Join Cole Horton, astromech builder and Star Wars expert, for a look at how the golden age of Hollywood, classic comic books, space operas, and the Second World War all shaped the Star Wars saga.

Be sure to join us earlier in the day, from 11 am - 12 pm, and celebrate Star Wars Reads Day! We’ll have crafts, games and trivia for all your Star Wars fans! Costumes are encouraged! This event is free and open to all ages.

“Reading and Star Wars have gone hand-in-hand since 1976, when the novelization of the original Star Wars movie was released. Over the years, many fans have discovered the joy in reading through Star Wars books, and we hope to continue encouraging more people to read" says Carol Roeder, Director of Publishing at Lucasfilm.

Need more Star Wars in your life?  Tacoma Public Library will also be offering Star Wars Reads Day events on October 5th!  You can meet an R2 unit and find out how to build your own or get an early chance to listen to Cole Horton's From Golden Age to a Galaxy Far Away lecture.
