Want to be a Rockhound? Okay, so maybe you don't really want to be outside checking out rocks on these hot summer days... but perhaps a trip to the beach is in order, and you can certainly spot some pretty rocks there!

When I was a kid, we had a rock polisher.  It was really noisy, and it was hard to wait for weeks as the rocks got polished, bit by bit.  But it never ceased to amaze me how something that looked so plain and ordinary going in could be so beautiful coming out.

Tomorrow (Friday, July 26th) at 3pm, you can pick up some tips from Puyallup Valley Gem and Mineral Club. Ages 7-17 can learn how to be rockhounds, what kind of rocks are “keepers”, tools and equipment involved and places to look for your rocks. Learn tips for starting or maintaining a rock collection, and the “Rockhounding Rules.”  See you there!
