What a wonderful, rainy day! It may seem strange, but when I lived in Walla Walla, I actually missed the rain!
As a native of Federal Way, it felt strange to go without rain for weeks on end in the summer. In fact, when it finally rained, I would go out and stand in the rain, just to feel it on my skin!
Now that I'm older and "wiser", I generally prefer to watch the rain through the window, in the comfort of my living roon, curled up with a good book, or baking cookies in my kitchen. What's your favorite rainy day activity? Do you like to get out scissors and glue and make things? Do you bake something in the kitchen? Or is it a time for rereading a favorite book?
If you are looking for something different to do, here's a recipe for Nutty Putty:
Put 1 Tablespoon liquid starch starch in bowl. Add 2 Tablespoons white glue and let set 5 minutes. If desired, add 3 drops food coloring. Mix until starch is absorbed and color is spread smoothly. The more you mix, the better it gets. Store overnight in airtight container before using to pick up pictures from comics. Use like “Silly Putty” to bounce, pick up pictures, and mold into shapes. Add 1 teaspoon more starch for a tougher, more rubbery putty. If left in open air, it will melt and then turn hard. Lasts several days if stored airtight. If putty dries out or gets tough, just dip into warm water and knead.
"Rain, rain, go away, come again another day, all the kids just want to play."
