Jan. 7, 2010 at 4:25pm Let's make stomp rockets!

On Wednesday, January 20th the Library will be hosting a true family program, it is our Star Party!  Once again the Tacoma Astronomical Society will be coming to the Library to help you make stomp rockets and view stars through telescopes (weather permitting).

This is the 3rd year for this fun Star Party.  Everyone is welcome.  Stomp rockets can be made by children of all ages (although the younger children may need assistance from parents).  The guys from the Tacoma Astronomical Society do a great job of introducing a little science as the children assemble their rockets.  Then it is out to the park to launch these rockets.  There is nothing like a little rocket chasing to help young ones use up some of that over-abundant energy.  If the weather cooperates, telescopes will be set up for star gazing.

The fun starts at 5:30 pm and runs until we start cleaning up at 7:30 pm.  Feel free to come at anytime during the 2 hour program.  (The tables can only accomodate a certain number of people for rocket making, so not everyone should show up right at 5:30.)  No registration required.  Hot chocolate and tea will be served to keep everybody warm.
