May. 9, 2014 at 5:44pm Happy Mother's Day!!!

There’s more to Mother’s Day than a bouquet of flowers or breakfast in bed…..Here are some great books for moms everywhere:

Glitter and Glue (Ballantine Books, 2014) by Kelly Corrigan. Corrigan recalls her mother saying, “Your father’s the glitter but I’m the glue.” and this line comes full circle in the author’s experience in a moving and entertaining memoir.

Mom Needs Chocolate: Hugs, humor and hope for Surviving Motherhood (Regal, 2009) by Debora Coty. Get ready to laugh out loud as Coty offers outrageously funny stories and tips for those run down by the diaper-by-diaper day of the endlessly exhausted young “mom”.

Where’d You Go, Bernadette (Little, Brown & Company, 2012) by Maria Semple. Did you miss this popular, bestselling book when it came out? If you’re a mom looking for a little escape and a hilarious satire about life in the suburbs, Bernadette is for you.

Mom & Me & Mom (Random House, 2013) by Maya Angelou. The prize winning author offers an account of healing and love in her memoir of rebuilding a relationship with her mother after a 10 year absence.

Tell Me Again About the Night I Was Born (HarperCollins 1996) by Jaime Lee Curtis. Illustration: Laura Cornell. Yes, it’s a children’s book but it’s actually just as entertaining for adults. Tell Me Again… has become a classic and it offers a charming and joyful celebration of adoption, babies and family. Cornell’s funny and whimsical illustrations provide a perfect complement to the author’s humor.

Three Weeks With Lady X (Avon, 2014) by Eloisa James. This is the perfect selection for the moms who receive the gift of a few hours to themselves on Sunday. If historical romance is your guilty pleasure, you cannot do better than Eloisa James. Sizzling romance, appealing characters and a great plot are the author’s hallmarks and this book doesn’t disappoint.
