Heather Shadko is serving her first term on the Puyallup city council following her election in November 2013. Her elected term runs from 2014 to 2017.
Heather has served as Chair of the Puyallup Library Board from 2007 to 2009 and has been a member of the Board for ten years (2004-2013). She has also been a member of Puyallup’s Planning Commission (2010-2013) and served as Vice-Chair of the Commission in 2012. She is a current member of the Puyallup Library Foundation. Heather has also volunteered as a Girl Scout leader and is currently volunteering with youth activities.
Heather emphasizes the importance of maintaining Puyallup’s strong community centered assets, such as our parks and the library, as well as looking towards the future growth of the city. She volunteers throughout the community by supporting projects such as Rain Garden installations, Pierce Conservation tree plantings, and Library Foundation programs.
Heather recognizes the importance of Public Safety within the community and ensures that any effects to public safety are taken into consideration when making decisions. She strongly believes in the importance of small businesses and will focus on maintaining the vibrancy and diversity of the downtown area while continuing to help the city of Puyallup continue to grow.
Heather is a longtime resident of Puyallup since 1998. Originally from the Midwest, Heather has lived in many locations during her husband’s military and government service. She is a graduate of the University of Mississippi where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. She possesses a variety of professional experiences with positions including hospital clinic administrator and educational testing administrator. She is currently employed by the Port of Tacoma as a Contract and Procurement Specialist.
