PUYALLUP MUNICIPAL JUDGE STEPHEN R. SHELTON TO RETIRE, City Council gegins process to fill the interim judge position - Puyallup Municipal Judge Stephen R. Shelton will retire October 31, 2012, according to a letter sent to the Puyallup City Council. Shelton served as the Puyallup Municipal Judge for almost 19 years, first as an appointed judge and beginning in 2008 as Puyallup’s first full-time elected judge. Read more.

MEDIA ADVISORY - FEDERAL MEDICAL STATION EXERCISE MEDIA AVAILABILITY - The City of Puyallup, in collaboration with the Tacoma Pierce County Health Department, the Washington State Department of Health and the Pierce County Medical Reserve Corp, is getting ready to exercise the deployment, setup and operation of a Federal Medical Station (FMS). The FMS exercise is one of several logistic exercises of the Evergreen Quake Exercise Series scheduled to take place June 11-15 throughout eight counties in Washington State. The Puyallup exercise will be the first time a local jurisdiction will operate a Federal Medical Station on its own. Read more.

First time in nation a local jurisdiction will run an FMS
Puyallup will be the site of a Federal Medical Station (FMS) drill to take place June 12-14, 2012 at the Puyallup Fair & Events Center in the Paulhamus meeting rooms. This is the first time in the nation an FMS will be set up and operated by a local jurisdiction. Read more.

BRYAN JETER WILL BE PUYALLUP'S NEW TOP COP - Puyallup City Manager Ralph Dannenberg announced the appointment of Deputy Chief Bryan Jeter as Puyallup's newest police chief effective May 30, 2012. He will replace retiring police chief Jim Collyer. Read more.

PUYALLUP'S CHILDREN'S TREE TO BE REPLACED - The January snow and ice storm that devasted thousands of trees in Puyallup and Puget Sound has claimed yet another victim. A 40-foot Norwegian Spruce in Pioneer Park, known as Puyallup's Children's Tree, will be removed and replaced by City Parks staff in early May. A new Children's Tree will be planted in its place.
