Read Outside the Lines

10/17, 3:45 pm-4:45 pm

Puyallup Public Library
324 S. Meridian
Downtown Puyallup

Do you have a favorite tree?  Discover the mythology and folklore of the Midsummer's Tree and other trees in the Dark is Rising Sequence and elsewhere.

Children in 4th through 6th grades can experience books and the library in a whole new way with a series of FREE activities designed especially for them. “Read Outside the Lines” is a series of programs revolving around great children’s literature. Each program will include poems, a selection from the book, and related activities – a fun way to delve deeper, and increase reading power. As an added bonus, those who attend 3 or more programs will get a FREE book. You don’t have to read the book first to enjoy these activities.

The Fall 2013 series will be based on books by Susan Cooper, and programs will take place at 3:45 pm every Thursday in October except Halloween. And don’t miss your chance to see Susan Cooper in person at the Liberty Theater on September 27th at 7pm. She’ll be speaking about her work, and autographing her new book, Ghost Hawk. Tickets are available at www.brownpapertickets.com .

What’s special about Read Outside the Lines?

It’s not memorizing sweet little poems about butterflies...(though we will be reading poetry together..)

It’s about discovering different ways of looking at books and poetry... having fun while exploring literature… and enjoying the creativity of words.
