Temporary Stands

Temporary businesses established for the sale of retail products, services and food, are subject to a maximum of 30 days of site occupancy in any one-year period.  All temporary stands are assessed a $25.00 (processing fee) and a fee of $10.00 per day of operation (for a period of up to 30 days).  Stands in operation for more than 30 days are considered a permanent business and cannot be licensed as a temporary stand.  Additional fees may be assessed by Central Pierce Fire & Rescue (CPFR) for: $85.00 for tents/canopies larger than 400 square feet or stands that cook/serve food; $80.00 for an inspection fee (minimum/first hour) and Plan Review of $40.00 (first half hour).

All applications are reviewed by the city's Planning Department and Central Pierce Fire & Rescue  to ensure compliance with requirements.   The license will be issued to the applicant at the time of the final inspection by a Fire Marshal.

 

Note:  The $10.00 per day fee may be waived for non-profit businesses that provide a copy of their certificate of 501 (c) (3) nonprofit status granted by the Internal Revenue Service.

Notice to all City of Puyallup Temporary Stand License Holders: When reporting revenue information to the State of Washington, please report City of Puyallup revenue to locator number 2711.

Western Washington Fair Temporary Stands

Application Deadline is August 31st!

All temporary stands wishing to locate outside of the Western Washington Fairgrounds (WWF) during the September fair are required to optain a Temporary Stand License. A City Business License is NOT required. All applications must be returned to the City Clerk's Office by the last working day in August.
 
Flower Stands
Application deadline is 5 working days before your stand opens!

This type of application is given to the applicant who will have a stand for a period of 30 days or less. The stand shall be located in a commercially zoned location. The applicant must have the Temporary Stand Application filled out in whole (with the owner's signature or a copy of the lease agreement).
 
 
Produce Sales

Any farmer selling his own produce (produce grown in Washington State) is exempt from having a Business/Temporary Stand License.

Any other individual(s) interested in selling fruit and/or produce that is not grown in Washington State, from a regular location for less than 30 days per year, will be required to apply for the Temporary Stand License. If the stand is more than 30 days per year, the applicant will need to apply for a Standard Business License AND a Temporary Use Permit - available from the Planning Department.

Fireworks Stands

Application Deadline is June 15th!

Fireworks stands must be located on commercially zoned property and are limited to the dates of June 28th through July 4th. Applicants must have the Temporary Stand Application filled out in whole (a copy of the lease agreement may be substituted for the owner's signature) and turned in by June 15th. 

Christmas Tree Stands

Application deadline is 5 working days before your stand opens!

Christamas tree stands must be located in a commercially zoned location. The applicant must have the Temporary Stand Application filled out in whole (a copy of the lease agreement may be substituted for the owner's signature) and turned in five working days prior to the opening of the stand.
