Recommended Action
Approve and accept the work completed by Award Construction Inc. to construct improvements to the 19th Sanitary Sewer Lift Station. 
Background
After design completion by Gray and Osborne in August of 2010, the City Council awarded a contract to Award Construction Inc. on September 28, 2010 to construct improvements to the 19th Sanitary Sewer Lift Station. 

Four new 4,500 gpm (gallon per minute) centrifugal pumps were installed (two to add capacity and two to replace existing pumps), including valving and all required electrical instrumentation and telemetry to support the lift station. 

Contractual work also included structural modifications to the existing mechanical building, HVAC modification to the existing mechanical building, furnace and landscaping restoration, procurement of a trailer-mounted stand-by generator, testing, commissioning and training.
Previous Actions (Discussions/Presentations)
The system brings the 19th Sanitary Sewer Lift Station into compliance with Washington State Department of Ecology design standards and provides a new air and watertight piping system for 75% of the city's sanitary sewage.

The lift station upgrades, along with the addition of a parallel sewer force main, increase conveyance safety and allow the reliable conveyance of peak wastewater flow from the lift station to the wastewater treatment plant. The new sewer force main virtually eliminates the possibility of sanitary sewage pipe failure between the lift station and the wastewater treatment plant for many years to come.  

09/28/2010:CCA awarded the contract to Award Construction, Inc. to construct the 19th & Pioneer Lift Station Improvement Project

04/03/2012:CCA approved additional spending authorization for the 19th Lift Station Project. (SEE ATTACHMENT FOR COMPLETE CAB)

All work, materials and measurements have been in accordance with the provisions of the standard specifications and special provisions for the type of construction involved.

Upon Council approval, a one year warranty period will commence.
