City Council Agenda
Meeting Date: 03/05/2013
Subject:    Associated Ministries 2013 Community Funding Grant
Presenter: Bill McDonald
Department: City Manager's Office

Recommended Action
The attached letter essentially requests an increase in the award of Community Grant funds to Homeward Bound. Associated Ministries will no longer serve as the financial umbrella agency for the Open Hearth program. The letter is confusing but the affect would be to significantly increase the allocation to Homeward Bound. This is a Council budget issue. Staff has no specific recommendation.
In a letter dated January 22, 2013 (see attached), the City was notified by Associated Ministries that it was transitioning all operations for Open Hearth to Homeward Bound. The letter asked that the City consider reassigning the $19,500 community funding grant awarded to Open Hearth (via Associated Ministries) to Homeward Bound. This would bring the total awarded to Homeward Bound to $36,050.
Previous Actions (Discussions/Presentations)

The City Council approved a Community Projects award of $19,500 in the 2013 Budget Process to Associated Ministries. The Council did not award Community Grant funds directly to Open Hearth in the 2013 budget.

Summary of Proposal
Affirmitive action on this request would move funds allocated to Associated Ministries to Homeward Bound.
One option would be to unfund Associated Ministries.

A second option would be to transfer the funds to Homeward Bound.

A third option would be to reallocate the $19,500 to other needs.
