Potential Zoning Changes

The Puyallup Planning Commission will conduct a Public Hearing on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at 6:30PM, 5th Floor Council Chambers of City Hall (333 S Meridian). At the September 27th Hearing, Planning Commission will consider proposed amendments to the City’s Comprehensive Plan.

The City is proposing amendments to the Comprehensive Plan Land Use Map and the Zoning Map; information is provided below and in the links on the right side bar.

  • 5th Ave Ct SW Neighborhood: convert from a Rural Buffer Residential (RBR) land use designation to Low Density Residential (LDR), and concurrently from a Very Low Density Single-Family Residential (RS-35) zoning designation to Low Urban Density Single-Family Residential (RS-10). This neighborhood, consisting of seventeen (17) parcels totaling 6.45 acres, was platted and developed prior to being annexed into the City of Puyallup in 2009. The proposed zoning designation appears to be more appropriate for the established neighborhood.
  • 1316 7th St SE: convert one (1) parcel totaling 0.86 acres from Medical Facilities (MED) land use designation to High Density Residential (HDR), and concurrently from a Medical (MED) zoning designation to High Density Multi-Family Residential (RM-20). The property contains an existing single-family home; proposed zone allows preexisting single-family residences to remain, subject to the RS-04 zone.
  • Crossroads at Meridian Apartments, 1027 N Meridian: convert one (1) parcel from Limited Manufacturing (ML) and Urban Density Single-Family Residential (RS-06) zoning designations to High Density Multi-Family Residential (RM-20). The proposed change would rezone the site to one designation, consistent with the existing development on-site.
  • Public Facilities, multiple properties: Convert nineteen (19) parcels totaling 37.34 acres to Open Space/Public Parks (OS/PP) land use designation, and concurrently rezone to Public Facilities (PF). The properties were identified as properties owned by the City of Puyallup and being open space and/or public park properties.

A staff report and environmental analysis will be available at least one week prior to the hearing in the Development Services Center (2nd floor) of Puyallup City Hall located at 333 S. Meridian, during normal business hours (8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Mon-Fri). 

Persons wishing to testify may submit written comments before the Hearing to the Planning Division at the above address, or may submit written comments or verbal testimony at the Hearing. Planning Commission recommendations will be forwarded to City Council for their action following the September 27, 2017 hearing and deliberation.
